Sideyard is a Cross Laminated Timber structure. It is a speculative 20,000 square foot building with retail uses designed to activate the ground floors and office spaces above. The building is designed by Skylab Architecture - a brick masonry envelope highlights and exposes the warm wood structure inside. The building is situated on a leftover berm site, an artifact of a street re-alignment project by the City of Portland. Third Avenue connects to the Burnside Bridge with a stair that lands on the historic bridge structure. The project will extend under the Burnside Bridge to incorporate an outdoor food component.
